Profile: Surya Kumar Bose
Surya Kumar Bose is the eldest son of Amiya Nath and Jyotsna Bose and the grandson of Sarat Chandra Bose, elder brother of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. As an Information Technology (IT) Professional for almost four decades working with Siemens, Cap Gemini and the United Nations, Surya K. Bose has mainly lived in Austria and Germany. He is a member of various professional and cultural organisations in Austria, Germany, UK and USA.
Surya Bose had organised the first International Seminar in Europe on the Indian Independence Movement in April 1978 which primarily dealt with the role of the three stalwarts Tilak, Gandhi and Bose. Over the last many decades, Surya has spoken at many seminars dealing with the role of Subhas Chandra Bose in the freedom struggle. He has also taken part in Television interviews and discussions on the subject, in Germany, Austria and India.
On the eve of his departure for Japan in June of this year, Surya K Bose said: “I am looking forward to visiting Japan which had played such a key role in the final battle for Indian Independence led by Netaji, popularly known as Chandra Bose in Japan, in South East Asia. It is now over five decades since my father Amiya Nath Bose, Barrister-at-law had travelled to Japan in 1957 where he was given such a warm reception as the nephew of the ‘Hero of Asia’ in the words of the then Japanese Foreign Minister Mamoru Shigemitsu. My father had been invited as the Indian delegate to the All World Anti-Atomic Bomb Conference in Kyoto which was presided over by Prince Higashikuni, a cousin of the then Japanese Emperor. Amiya Nath Bose was the principal founder and architect of the Netaji Archives housed in Netaji Bhawan in Kolkata, which was established by Sarat Chandra Bose in 1946.
Although, Surya was always an ardent admirer of Japan and the Japanese, this visit in June confirmed his views and strengthened his belief in the Japanese people.
Surya was born on 26 June 1949 in Calcutta (now Kolkata), India. After studying Physics at Calcutta University, he went to Germany at the end of 1972 and joined the Research Laboratory of Siemens AG in Erlangen. He was a member of the team that developed the Magnetic-Levitation Train. In mid-1974 he went to Vienna and began a new career in Information Technology. After a couple of years in the industry, he joined the United Nations in Vienna as a Systems Analyst. In 1980 he decided to leave the UN to join a French software firm, Cap Gemini Sogeti, in Germany. He worked for Cap Gemini as a Senior Consultant and Project Manager for nine years and helped them to build up their German base.
In 1989 Surya K. Bose set up his own consultancy firm, ‘Bose Information Technology’ in Hamburg and has been involved in several consultancy and development projects in Banking, Insurance and in the Aviation Industry.
Surya Bose is a member of various professional and cultural organisations in Austria, Germany, France, UK, USA and India. His articles have been published in several technical, economic as
well as political journals. He has co-authored a few books as well. He has represented Germany in the Euro-India Partenariat in 1999 and has been a regular member of several official delegations from Germany as well as the European Union to India. Surya is married and has two sons.

Surya Kumar Bose（スルヤ・クマール・ボース、以下「ボース氏」という）は、Amiya Nath Bose と Jyotsna Boseの長男であり、スバス・チャンドラ・ボースの兄であるSarat Chandra Boseの孫です。 おおよそ四半世紀にわたって、Siemens社、CapGemini社、国際連合でＩＴ専門の仕事し、主にオーストリアとドイツに住んでいました。彼は、オーストリア、ドイツ、米国で、さまざまな専門的なあるいは文化的組織のメンバーです。
スルヤ・クマール・ボース氏は、1978年4月、インド独立運動に関するヨーロッパで最初の国際セミナーを開催し、主にティラック、ガンジーとボースの役割について話をしました。氏は、この何十年間、スバス・チャンドラ・ボースのインド独立運動における役割について多くのセミナーで取り扱ってきました。また、ドイツ、オーストリア、インドでテレビのインタビューや討論に参画してきました。
2013年6月、日本向けて出発する前日の晩、氏は、「私は、ネタジ（スバス・チャンドラボースの愛称で偉大なる指導者の意味）が率いたインド独立運動の、東南アジアにおける最後の戦いで重要な役割を果たした日本に行くことを大変楽しみにしていますまた、50年前に、法廷弁護士である父Amiya Nath Bose とは、1957年に来日した際、重光葵元外務大臣から“アジアのヒーロー”であるチャンドラボースの甥として歓待を受けました。父は、天皇陛下の従弟である東久邇親王が議長を務めた、京都で開催された反核会議に、インド調査団員として招待されました。父は、1946年にサラット・チャンドラボースによって創立された、コルカタにあるネタジ・バワン（ネタジの家という意味）の主要な設立者でした。」
しかしながらボース氏は、熱心な日本および日本人の崇拝者でもあります。今年6月の来日で、彼は日本人に対する彼の視点を確認するとともに日本人に対する思いを強くしました。
ボース氏は、1949年6月29日にインド、カルカッタ（現在のコルカタ）で生まれ、カルカッタ大学で物理学を修めた後、1972年末にドイツに渡り、ドイツのErlagenにあるSiemens研究所に入りました。彼は、磁気浮揚電車（リニアモーターカー）の開発チームのメンバーでした。1974年半ばには、彼は、ウイーンに行き、ＩＴのキャリアを積みました。2年後、ウイーンにある国際連合にシステムアナリストとして入りました。1980年、彼は、国際連合を離れ、ドイツのSogetiにあるフランス系ＩＴ企業のＣａｐGｅｍｉｎｉに入社しました。彼は、CapGemini社でシニアコンサルタント及び9年間プロジェクトマネージャーとして働き、会社のドイツでの事業基礎構築を支援しました。
1989年ボース氏は、ドイツ、ハンブルクにBose Information Technology社を設立し、金融や保険、航空業界のプロジェクトやさまざまなコンサルタント業に関与してきました。
また、ボース氏は、オーストリア、ドイツ、フランス、イギリス、アメリカやインドでさまざまな専門的文化的組織のメンバーです。彼の書く記事は、政治ジャーナリズムはもとより、技術および経済雑誌で投稿されてきました。彼には、いくつかの共著作もあります。 また、1999年のユーロ＝インド共同事業ではドイツの代表を務め、ドイツ及びEUのインドへの公式調査の常任委員でした。ボース氏は結婚しており２人の息子がいます。
