SDHF Newsletter No.9: Roosevelt’ Final Telegram to Emperor of Japan

December 8, 2008 (December 7 in the U.S.) marked the 67th anniversary of the outbreak
of war between Japan and the United States. Prof. SUGIHARA Seishiro wrote an essay
on the subject of a telegram sent by U.S. President Roosevelt to Emperor Showa (Hirohito)
in the February 2009 issue of Seiron, published on December 25, 2008. The essay intended
to explore the nature of the telegram, and leads to uncovering Roosevelt’s real attitude toward
war against Japan.
