The Greater East Asian War: How Japan Changed The World
By Kase Hideaki
(Published by KK Bestseller in Japanese, 2015)
Chapter 1 – Up to the Day Japan Surrendered

March 7, 2017

The Greater East Asian War (the so-called Pacific War) is generally perceived as Japan’s “war of aggression”.
Mr. Kase, Chairman of Society for the Dissemination of Historical Fact, presents in this book a completely different, diametrically opposite view—that the war broke down the long entrenched Western global colonial system and played a key role in promoting racial equality around the world.
The usual, knee-jerk “revisionist” label will be cast concerning this point of view. The term “revisionist” has been frequently used by Marxists. German SDP reformist Eduard Bernstein was accused of being a “revisionist” by orthodox Marxists—with their doctrine entirely collapsing with the fall of the Soviet Union. It is bizarre that “revisionist,” a dogmatic, Marxist term, is still used today to label non-orthodox historical views.
The 31st President of the US, Herbert Hoover, wrote a great work over a period of 20 years, Freedom Betrayed (Hoover Institution Press, Stanford University, 2011). In this book, Hoover stated: “I said that the whole Japanese war was a madman’s [FDR] desire to get into war. He [General MacArthur] agreed.” (p. 833) So should former US President Hoover be accused of being a “revisionist”?
“Revisionist” or not, he nonetheless corrects the outrageously distorted prevailing historical view. The “revisionist” historian is a methodical historian.
The English translation of Mr. Kase’s book will be serialized. This link is to Chapter 1.
