② Sworn Deposition by Major KATSURA Shizuo

This is the third of a series of articles pertaining to the Tongzhou Massacre, which has been submitted for inclusion in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register; a sworn deposition from the official record of the “Tokyo Trials”.
Sworn deposition number one was made by Major Katsura, who was Deputy Commander of the Infantry Gun Company of the 2nd Regiment stationed in China.
He was dispatched to liberate Tongzhou, where he arrived at 2:30 a.m., driving the enemy from the scene, and saw many signs of the slaughter of Japanese residents. He testified to what he saw at Tongzhou in a sworn deposition. (Translation into English was done by Defense Language Branch of the Court).
